The Web development process

Good Web content for schools

Model Web site outlines

Let us develop and maintain your school Web site.

We offer Web site services in two ways:

1. For school districts that only want Web site services:

We will develop and continually maintain and expand your Web site at a cost of $21,250 for the 2006-07 school year. This cost would cover development of the basic site and regular maintenance by a communication specialist assigned to the district approximately one day a week. The service encompasses:

  • Planning of your district-wide site
  • Design of attractive yet quick-loading pages
  • Development of news, features and articles that will appeal to your Web site visitors
  • Creation of other online content
  • Photography to complement articles
  • Development and upkeep of an alumni directory in a database form
  • Ongoing maintenance and expansion of the site
  • Domain name registration
  • Training of other staff members to update sections of the site
  • Troubleshooting
  • Monthly reports on the amount of traffic going to the site

Districts may also purchase additional features, such as individual school pages, teacher pages or other database applications such as alumni directories and subscriptions to electronic newsletters, emergency notices, etc. delivered to parents and staff via e-mail.

2. For school districts that want a Web site as part of their on-going communications service contract:

This option is for school districts that already subscribe to, or are planning to subscribe to, our communication services at a level of .6 full time equivalent (FTE) or above. In this instance, we will develop and continually maintain and expand your Web site at no additional cost. However, there must be at least one day a week set aside in the communication specialist’s time to devote to the Web site. The Web service would encompass all of the features listed above plus more, depending on the level of communications service purchased.

The cost of our regular communications service during 2006-07 is:

  • $85,000 (One full-time Communications Specialist assigned to your district with 100 graphic design hours on retainer)
  • $68,000 (.8 FTE Communications Specialist assigned to your district with 80 graphic design hours on retainer)
  • $51,000 (.6 FTE Communications Specialist assigned to your district with 60 graphic design hours on retainer)
