More about our Web
services...
Our philosophy
What makes for an effective
Web site? Stop
and think about the Web sites you currently visit. What makes
you want to come there not just once but again and
again?
-
It has information you want.
-
You could not get the information as
quickly anywhere else.
-
It changes regularly and is always up
to date.
-
It saves you time.
-
It saves you money.
-
It saves you headaches.
-
It allows you to get your job done
more easily.
-
It makes your life simpler.
-
It fills a need.
There is a tendency for some schools to
put up a Web site just for the sake of having one, without
really thinking about what makes for a good Web site. They
often treat a Web site as a place to post the same information
that is available in brochures and newsletters. That can
sometimes be useful, but it is not enough to bring people back
again and again.
Our approach to
Web site development is
different. We believe that a Web site should be created as a way for your customers (be they parents, students, staff
or community members) to do business with you on their own
time.
What we have to offer
The Capital Region BOCES Communications
Service has been seriously involved in developing school Web
sites for many years. We have all the expertise you
might find in a high-powered, high-priced Web development
company. In fact, we really have more more expertise, because
we also know the business of education. That knowledge of the
needs of schools is something that very few private sector Web
development companies and consultants would have.
That's not to say we view ourselves as the
end all and be all of Web site developers. This is a rapidly
growing and changing field. There is always something new to
learn, and we are working hard to stay on top of these new
developments.
Our Web team
We take a team approach to developing
Web
sites. That team includes our Web development specialist, our
communication specialists, and our graphic designers, who work
together with school administrators, teachers, support staff,
and technology specialists to plan and implement a Web site
that best suits each district's needs.
In most cases, school districts that
purchase our Web services also subscribe to our other
communications services. Indeed, the Web site becomes one of
many communication vehicles used to get across important
messages and vital information.
School districts, however, can come to us
for Web services only. In that case, we can help plan, design
and write the content for the Web site. We can also assign a
communication specialist to maintain your Web site, or we can
train people within your district to maintain it and turn
that task over to them.
